Theater of the Grasshopper presents
TV Show
TV Show is 4 short plays, 1 video and some personal reflections on the subject of television by Iris Rose.
IMPORTANT WARNING: TV Show is not the family-friendly production that Mutti's After Supper Stories was. Not intended for children.
The plays:
"Sloth"
A young woman stops going to work and devotes herself to
watching television. Originally performed in
1988, as part of Watchface's show on the Seven Deadly Sins. This revival features the original 1988
audio and Camila Jones in the role that Iris created.
"The Dare"
Four
bored teens check out what's on the internet. Lily DePaula, Jake
Deter, Camila Jones and Coulee Slatnick surf the back alleys of the web.
"Watching the Detectives"
Iris
Rose plays a woman who just wants to watch the last 10 minutes of her
favorite hour-long police procedural, but real life keeps trying to
prevent her.
"Love Crimes"
A
couple obsessed with couple-on-the-run movies hits the road. Amber (Alison Brasky) and Frank (Jake Deter) follow in the celluloid footsteps of Bonnie &
Clyde, natural-born killers Mickey & Mallory, and gun-crazy
Laurie & Bart.
The video:
"Boys TV"
Television through the eyes of two boys: Colin
DePaula, age 10, and Corbett Francis, age 11. Includes the adventures of Robo-Kid and his rhinoceros sidekick, Rico
Tusk. Committed to video with the considerable help of Joe Siena
and Iris Rose.
Plus Iris' thoughts on:
"I Am a TV Addict (Parts One and Two)"
"The Four Greatest Moments in the History of Television"
"The Two Worst Moments in the History of Television"
"Why June Cleaver Wears Pearls When She Vacuums"
