Theater of the Grasshopper presents
as part of the 13th Annual International Fringe Festival
MUTTI'S AFTER SUPPER STORIES

Mutti's After Supper Stories is
adapted from Grimm's fairy tales and sticks closely to the funny, scary
German originals: "The Frog Prince", "Hansel and Gretel", "Little Red
Cap", "Rumpelstiltskin", and "The Star Talers". Noelle McGrath
DePaula plays Mutti, who tells these old tales to her children, as
mothers did for hundreds of years, around the table when the day is
done. Those children are played by Noelle's own remarkable
children, Juliet and Colin. Their older sister Lily lends her
beautiful voice to the original songs by Hugh Hales-Tooke--sometimes
witty, sometimes melancholy and beautiful. Besides performing his
songs, Hugh also plays all needed woodcutters. Mutti
was written and directed by Iris Rose, who also made all of the props,
puppets, and costumes, including the hand-embroidered lederhosen and
aprons. The show's quick transformations of character are aided
by the backdrop of many pockets, as well as pockets in the tablecloths
and aprons. Handcrafted and heartfelt, this show is equally
enjoyable for grown-ups and kids.
